The Borderlands movie has unveiled its latest cast and now minded an official plot synopsis for the Eli Roth-manageable moving picture, and possibly unsurprisingly information technology's passing to deviate from the games somewhat, with zero Handsome Jack visible.

Preferably—Eastern Samoa reported by Deadline—Edgar Ramirez, WHO has previously starred in Zero Darkening Xxx, The Bourne Ultimatum and the 2015 Point Break remaking, bequeath be playing the use of the Atlas, the CEO of the Borderlands universe's fictional Telamon corporation. The reside of the synopsis also seems to shuffling IT clear that other first-game vault hunters Brick and Mordecai won't be striking members of the cast. The full synopsis from the press release reads every bit follows:

"Lilith (Blanchett), an infamous outlaw with a cryptical agone, reluctantly returns to her family planet of Pandora to find the wanting daughter of the universe's most almighty S.O.B., Atlas (Ramirez). Lilith forms an alliance with an unexpected team – Roland (Kevin Hart), a former selected mercenary, now desperate for redemption; Lilliputian Tina (Ariana Greenblatt), a feral pre-teenager demolitionist; Krieg (Munteanu), Tina's muscle-bound, rhetorically challenged protector; Tannis (Jamie Lee Curtis), the scientist with a tenuous grip connected sanity; and Claptrap (Jack Black), a persistently wiseass robot.

These unlikely heroes must battle alien monsters and dangerous bandits to find and protect the missing girl, who English hawthorn hold the important to unimaginable power. The fate of the universe could be in their hands – but they'll be fighting for something more: from each one other."

Gearbox's Randy Pitchford has tweeted since the declaration to allay fans' fears that the movie strays from the plot of the games quite considerably, saying "To the interested: The Borderlands Cinematic Population is non identical to the Borderlands Videogame Population. We are authentic to characters, flavour and style, merely provid independent storylines. The mediums are not the unchanged, so the content should not be bound to the same rules."

Of course, that's non to say other characters equal Handsome Jack couldn't appear in subsequent movies —those of you who are up on your Borderlands traditional knowledge will know the character bought and absorbed Atlas into his company Hyperion between games Borderlands: The Pre Sequel and Borderlands2—but it'll cost interesting to see how the story of the movie eventually pans verboten without arguably the series' most illustrious villain. The Borderlands flic doesn't have a release date yet, but filming is currently underway in Hungary.
